The first official event of 2011 went brilliantly! Heworth Golf Club have become another venue that we have added to our growing list of Hog Roast friendly venues with their function room and facilities that can be hired for the sum of £1!!!
A band, decorations and hog roast gave this 30th Birthday something a little bit special.
We cooked a 50kg Rare Breed pig from Taste Tradition for 5 and a half hours. We didn't use one our marinades that are to be added to the website as the customer requested the hog to be cooked in a traditional manner.
At the carving plate, the meat was soft, juicy and very tasty. As is always the case, the hardcore foodies had lost all sense of where they were, and what they were doing there. The cave man instincts had kicked in and their sole purpose in life was to get their hands on some crackling. It didn't disappoint. As the word spread alarmingly quickly, a queue of hungry party goers jostled for a piece of the delicacy. After the initial excitement, normal carving commenced with approx 100 sandwich's served with enough plated pork for many more! Our trademark spicy apple chutney was as popular as ever. A great first event for 2011!
The 1st official event was for my 30th birthday party! As it was the big 30 i decided to go all out and had a band, fancy dress and of course 'The Hog and Apple' to tend to my catering needs. Ged and James were amazing and really professional and the uniforms and catering tent looked fantastic. I preferred my guests to come out to the tent to be served their sandwiches so they could see the hog being cooked and meet the boys, and everyone commented on how good it all looked and how incredibly tasty it was. Ged and James were really friendly to both myself and my guests and they were more than happy to listen and cater to my preferences. Once everyone had full happy tummies, before i knew it, they had cleared everything away and left the place spotless! I would like to say a big thank you to Ged and James for a brilliant experience and for the amazing food, it made my 30th a night that i will never forget! I would be more than happy to reocmmend you to all my friends and family. Thanks again, Sally xx
